Transferring to Sewanee is a unique experience, and we are excited to welcome you during Orientation.

Students transferring to Sewanee for Advent 2026 will participate in Transfer Student Orientation in August. The dates are Sunday to Tuesday, Aug. 23–25, 2026. (Note: This is a different move-in date from the First Year Experience program, which is only for new first-year students. Your move-in date as a transfer student is Sunday, Aug. 23.)

Transfer ORientation Details
  • You will be able to move in beginning on Sunday, Aug. 23. Residential Life will send you move-in instructions.
  • Orientation begins around noon on Sunday, Aug. 23 with lunch.
  • Parents, family members, and guests are invited to a separate lunch and Orientation, also beginning at noon. Your parents/family members can RSVP for the parent orientation luncheon by or reaching out to sewaneeparents@sewanee.edu.
  • Orientation continues through Tuesday, Aug. 25. You will participate in a few more information sessions focused on academic and student support, as well as expectations for students, before wrapping up with the signing of the Honor Code and Activities Fair.

Pick up your room key and parking pass, and receive instructions for moving into your room during your assigned move-in time.

Parents, families, and guests of transfer students are welcome to join the Office of Family Engagement for a discussion about supporting your student. (This event is for parents, families, and guests of new students; new transfer students will attend a separate session at the same time—details listed above.)
1 p.m. Campus Tour
Orientation Leaders will lead your group on a campus tour. The campus tour will highlight key locations, including the Wellness Commons and where classes are held.
2 p.m. Free Time
Spend time setting up your new residential hall room and exploring the campus 
6 p.m. Dinner
Enjoy dinner on your own, with family, or with your Orientation Leader at Shenanigans.

Living with Integrity: Dignity & Respect
This session will cover the most important components of EQB: The Guide for Living in Community and campus safety with the Office of Community Standards, Sewanee Police Department, and Sewanee Volunteer Fire Department.

Admissions Information

The Office of Admission provides support to transfer applicants from the start of your transfer process through enrollment at Sewanee. Reach out to them with any questions about your application, financial aid, or completing the enrollment process.

Academic Resources for Transfers

As a transfer student, you will need to navigate the course registration process differently than new students. You can contact your Academic Advisor, Integrated Advising, or the Registrar's Office at any time for support.
